Power of Siberia Pipeline
The 3,000 kilometer gas pipeline from East Siberian fields to China, Russia's eastern energy pivot.
Overview
Signed in 2014 as a multidecade supply deal reported around 400 billion dollars and started up in 2019, the pipeline carries gas from the Chayanda and Kovykta fields to China's northeast across the border at Blagoveshchensk and Heihe, ramping toward a contracted 38 billion cubic meters yearly. Prices and terms remain confidential, with analysts assuming oil linkage. A mooted Power of Siberia 2, a far larger route through Mongolia toward northern China, has cycled through negotiations for years without signature. The first line is the physical proof of Moscow's pivot east.
